Many families from all different cultures share time honored traditions and making tortillas is one of ours. Growing into womanhood was not complete without a lesson in sewing and making four tortillas. Grandmother and Grandfather who was a wonderful chef tried to teach me. Some how my oddly shaped bread never looked as beautiful as the ones shaped by their loving hands. The sounds of the soft dough patted in their hands, the voice of the rolling pin on the table top, four everywhere and that wonderful smell of fresh cooked tortillas on the comal (griddle).
History: This work was part of the traveling exhibit and book by Karey Patterson Bresenhan (2005-2006) titled I Remember Mama, A Book of Love About Mothers, Daughters, and Quilts.
Hanging: Each work has a sleeve on the back to hang the work. It can be hung on a wooden slat flat against the wall or on a curtain rod. After purchase I will send hanging and care information. Works can also be framed if you choose.
